ABOUT ME

BETSY K. DELGADO - Senior Vice President, Chief Mission & Education Officer||Betsy K. Delgado is Senior Vice President and Chief Mission & Education Officer at Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana. Betsy joined Goodwill in 2011 as the Executive Director of The Excel Center®, Goodwill's tuition-free adult high school. Since then, she has led the accelerated growth of The Excel Center from one school to 51 nationwide locations. ||Promoted to Vice President of Mission Advancement in 2013, Betsy focused on strategies to empower individuals and families to be self-sufficient through participation in two or more of Goodwill's mission programs. ||In her current role as Senior Vice President and Chief Mission and Education Officer, she leads Goodwill's strategic efforts to help individuals and families access education, employment, and health services. ||Betsy oversees all of Goodwill's education initiatives, including The Excel Center-which now boasts 19 locations in central and southern Indiana and over 10,000 graduates in Indiana. The Excel Center model has demonstrated measurable success and has been replicated nationwide, including in South Carolina, Colorado, Maryland, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arizona,Missouri, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Nationally, over 15,000 adults have graduated from The Excel Center's 50 schools nationally. Betsy also provides strategic direction for the Indianapolis Metropolitan High School, Goodwill's free charter high school for students grades 9-12 who are experiencing barriers to education. About 200 students are enrolled at Indy Met each academic year.||Betsy also oversees Goodwill mission programs, including training and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, low-income senior citizens,Horizon House, the Downing Veterans Home in Peoria, Illinois and those reentering into their communities following involvement in the criminal justice system as well as Goodwill's Nurse-Family Partnership®, a maternal-child health program for low-income, first-time mothers. The nurse home visiting program-offered in all Indiana counties-follows a results-driven national model. Goodwill's implementation has served over 5,624 families since 2011. ||She has worked with the University of Notre Dame's Laboratory of Economic Opportunity to do a quasi-experimental study evidencing that graduates from The Excel Center make 38% more in wages after 5 years, and are more likely to be enrolled in college and working than their peers.|||Betsy is a Two-Generation Fellow with Ascend at the Aspen Institute and received her MBA at Notre Dame University in 2020. In 2018, she was appointed Chairperson to the Early Learning Advisory Committee by the Governor of Indiana and served as Chair for 3 years. In 2022, Betsy was reappointed by Governor Holcomb to continue serving on the Early Learning Advisory Committee.|Betsy is also a Pahara Fellow, cohort 23-24 at the Pahara Institute, focusing on education innovation. ||
